Every Sunday at 8 AM we gather in the Chapel for a quiet service of Holy Communion with scripture, preaching and prayer. Then, at 10:30 AM we gather in the Nave for a service of Holy Communion with hymns and, during the season, choral music. The later services are occasionally punctuated by festive touches. For example, on the first Sunday of the month the Youth Choir presents an anthem in positively angelic voices. On All Saints’ Sunday, the first Sunday in November, an In the Heart of the Beast inspired large papier-mâché angel hovers over us as we remember the faithful departed. Then, on Sundays in Advent, the Youth draw us in to worship each Sunday in a powerful ceremony inviting us to remember that the birth of Jesus draws near.
As a traditional parish of the Episcopal Church in Minnesota, St. James’ worship is guided by the Book of Common Prayer and by The Hymnal 1982.
